Her/His Neptune
So many light years away
Kept defying gravity
Of Space and of Consequence
His/Her Neptune
So fierce, so determined
Would have its say
Neptune is like that
*sigh*
And She/He were absolutely Neptunites
Head to toe
And They spun silently in space
The End.

Sanctuary
Reach out for me
Take my hands and let them be
Sanctuaries for what you hold in your depths
Lean upon my shoulders
Let them be your cup
Let them be your cup
A sanctuary to carry your tears
When loneliness comes

Unchecked Emotions
Emotions rabid
Frothing and foaming at their mouths
Cannibalistic feasting on their host
Neoplasmic feeders
Swallowing whole
Every morsel and droplet
Till there is no place left
For peace, for quiet
For deep love

Fire
Of
Fire of sun and of
Gaia`s core
Silently
and Steadily
Bringing
forth the change of Season
Of
Fire of cellular
burning brightly
Silently
and Steadily
Birthing,
dying, and regenerating
Renewing
life daily in this body of mine
And
in the bodies of my loved ones
Of
Fire that burns in
Touch and Hugs and Kisses
Silently
and Steadily
Unifying
me with the vulnerability of my humanness
Connection
Of
Fire that radiates within my
imagination
Silently
and Steadily
Igniting
`passion and activity`
Creation
Of
Fire in the furnace
and oven
Silently
and Steadily
Enveloping
me in a cocoon
A
safe place
A
place to `be broken and to heal`
A
place to `break bread and share stories`
A
place to `learn and grow,`
A
place to `forgive and love`
To
Just Be
Thank
you.

Memories Held
The ocean holds the memories of my mother
Marguerite Alexandra MacDonald of Victoria by the Sea
II.
The salt of her tears
of joy
of sadness
of elation
of disappointment...they bathe my feet as I walk along her edges
They christen my mortality, as I dive deep into her recesses
I am more because of her
III.
The jutting red cliffs embody the memories of my father
Richard Lea Howatt of Tryon Point
IV.
The iron of his will
of simplistic
of chaotic
of steady
of evasive
They colour my cells, and fill the edges of my bones with battle-scarred marrow
I am more because of him

Richard's Road
Walking down
Richard's road
A salty breeze
Welcomes him home
The lost returns
A child again
Bare foot and open heart
Pretty road side flowers
Your tiny heads bent in evening prayers
Kindly remember his name
As your fragrant blessings fill the air
Settings sun's
Rosy glow
Pours down through
Weathered trees
Rose coloured light
Filters through
Warming hearts and memories
Pretty road side flowers
Your tiny heads bent in evening prayers
Kindly remember his name
As your fragrant blessings fill the air

This Land, This Sky
A soil so red and ripe
Giving birth to trees, grass, and all rooted beings
A sky of ever changing blue
Breathy with four winds
Giving flight to whispery winged creatures
Salty water
Oceanic baptismal
Surrounding, enveloping, and cleansing
Cut us
and all of this will be what flows from our veins
and all of this will be what flows from our veins
For we are not merely affected by this place
Whether birthed here
Or lured by siren call
Sand fills our bones
Water in our blood
Rises and falls with the tides
Creating the lilt of voice
And the weightiness of step
This place, that is of you and I
Is an altar where we may lay down to rest
Knowing we are in our elements.

Journey to that Far-Away Land
You
lie on your back
And
curl your toes in a soft green grass
That knows the familiar
weight of you
That knows your breath
Knows
your heart
Knows
your dreams
Yours dreams of adventure
Oh, to while away the hours
Just to lie upon your back
Makes
the soul smile
The far away come near
The
Seven seas
The Deserts of Afro-eurasia
The Red Wood Forests Of california
Places and spaces
Open
themselves to you
They
sing their native songs
They dance ancestral steps
To
the rhythm of your pounding heart
Always waiting for you
Always welcoming

Mindful-relationships
I
recently attended a Shamanic Journeying introduction. It was
an uplifting and moving experience that has left me contemplating heart space in a deeper way.
- With those who march in with long confident strides
- With those who dance in as light and airy as the Fey
- With those who stumble and crawl in unsure, weighted down with awkward and cumbersome loads
By
mindful-relationship, I simply (and profoundly) mean, to be open and curious
about the
reason and purpose behind the arrival of each
and every person in our life, in an ancient shamanic way:
- With an open mind and heart
- With no expectations
- With trust in the higher power
For,
if we are the creators of our own physical realities then
it would stand to reason that these people have a purpose
for showing up in our lives ... welcomed or not.
So would it not make sense and be a good use of our time to ask our hearts why they are here? To explore what gifts, wisdoms and teachings we have for one another? And seek to know how we can bless and support each other's journey and evolution?

Imagine
living within and from our hearts
The heart, like the brain, generates a powerful electromagnetic field,
McCraty explains in The Energetic Heart. "The heart generates
the largest electromagnetic field in the body. The electrical field
as measured in an electrocardiogram (ECG) is about 60 times greater
in amplitude than the brain waves recorded in an electroencephalogram
(EEG). HeartMath studies show this powerful electromagnetic
field can be detected and measured several feet away from a person’s
body and between two individuals in close proximity.”(INSTITUTE OF

According
to neurocardiologists, 60 to 65 percent of heart cells
are neuron cells, not muscle cells.2 This discovery has
helped them develop experiments that have proved the heart works
similar to the brain and in some ways is even superior to the brain.
This may be the reason that the heart is the first organ to function
after conception. Within about 20 days after conception, the heart
starts to function, but the brain does not function until after
roughly 90 days.(Pao

Her Dream
She awakened to a new dawn
On her breath she built a fire
Flames lit the way as she traveled
Down ~ Down ~ Down
The ground beneath her feet grew wet
She discovered a canal
It had been erected during the night
Closing her eyes
She dove in

Music Afternoon in Heaven
He'll
take out his fiddle
next to come will be his bow
He'll
adjust all the strings
With
reverence, nice and slow
He'll
hold on to both proudly
And
when the time is right
He'll
join in with the others
And
play with all his might
When
he finds that Perfect moment
He'll
catch it with both hands
Tucking
fiddle under chin
And
striking bow so grand
And
joy will fill the room
accidental
chords race upon the air
As
his foot stomps out A rhythm
Heaven's
floor will bounce beneath his chair
Some
will think it's thunder
But
God and We will know
It's
music afternoon in Heaven
And
Kenny's hosting the show

Acceptance
Awakening to a new day
Hot breath steamy in the chilly morning air
Hot breath steamy in the chilly morning air
Eyes still distant with last night's dream clinging
Down ~ Down ~ Down
Into a new world
Where a canal flows within a blossom
Where the future is always present
Down ~ Down ~ Down
She dove in taking the whole world
Taking all of creation
Holding it close to her heart
Down ~ Down ~ Down

All of our Eleventh Sons
If we are fortunate there will come a day
When after having gathered enough courage
We are able to answer the knock
That only the brave heart can hear
A knock that heralds the beginning of a journey
To find all of our eleventh sons
The banished, the beaten and the sold off parts of our past
Exiled and left unattended in our Goshens
They have grown clever, wild, and powerful
Hiding their silver cups in amongst the folds of our days and nights
Triggers readied and holding us ransom
Until they are finally recognized
Until we stand before the world in our totality
Masks down, wounds and bruises uncovered
Vulnerable and cloaked in nothing but a colourful sacred wholeness

Victoria By The Sea
She found herself on her knees
Digging in, she moved about the rich red sand
Her hands and a shell of a large weathered bar clam for tools
Her usual mind-chatter shut off and she was lost in the meditative flow
Of hands and body moving with raw elements of rock and ocean
Cupping a handful of soil, she brought it close to her face
She breathed in the strong smells of salt and unyielding infinity
Her mother and uncles grew up on the high cliffs just above where she now knelt
The hands of time opened and she realized a deep connection in that moment
Their knees may have knelt in play, in this same spot ... before life revealed its complicated nature to them
Without a word she continued to work the sand before her
Willingly becoming a part of the whole
Her breath uniting with the music of the wind, waves, and gulls
Absorbing itself in the sand, seaweed and broken bits of breathless crustaceans
Broken down matter that still gives, still sings life's song of re-creation
She remembered reading that we are all breathing the same air that Jesus breathed
That people on the other side of the world have breathed
The good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly
The same molecules are still circulating and we are all literally sharing them
It felt good knowing her mother's breath still lived on the wind
Sitting still within the miracle of that
She took three deep breaths
Breathing in the Past
Breathing in the Present
Breathing herself into the Future
"We all breathe the same air that Jesus breathed and Einstein breathed and even an old woman in China has just breathed a couple of weeks ago. The molecules are still in the air circulating and we are all literally sharing them." - Deepak Chopra

The Bones of her Winter
Within icy chambers of a cavernous womb
The Goddess January prepares to give birth to another year's bounty
Thirty one children
"Stark and bare bones" is this brooding mare of a month
Each of her births, as unyielding as she, the one who bore them
Each is born ready to pare and taper
Each is cold enough, and grim enough to reap and gather
With never so much as a flinch
Mortals save your tears, pleas, and prayers
These truncatus gatherers hear not
Breathe!
Fill your nostrils!
Open your mouth and taste the air!
It is what it is!
This Goddess will come, year after year, to every home and give birth on every door step.
None will be spared her visit
Not those who have made their sacrifices
Not even those with hyssop branch and blood in basin
So better to face and know
Better to open the door to the bare bones of winter
Better to look Goddess January in the eyes

Sister Love
I bare my soul and yet ... before you
I know
That I am safe
(photograph by Wendy Morrison Metcalfe)
Though the winds of winter howl and cut
Though hungry animals within and without prowl and hunt
I know
That I am safe
Though my hands, feet, and mind grow cold and numb
Though I willingly placed myself beyond the light of the sun
I know
That I am safe
Though thoughts that circle, whisper words unkind
Though winter tears blind
Warm sister love kisses upon them
Encourage me to see again
And I know
That I am safe
Thank you

Soon You Will Return
Soon you will return
Time make ready my head and hands
To anoint lips and fingers with nectar
Purify word and deed
Re-open and make ready the heart
Soon you will return
I will cup my hands
Dip them in the water
Drink deep
I will quench your thirst
Soon you will return
I will gather wheat
With fingers break bread
Let my hands be your Holy Grail
They long to feed your hunger once again

Like the Tide to the Moon
No
I shall rise in love
Like the tide to the moon
Sweeping up
Sweeping up
Facing toward
Releasing all that I am
Into that sweet gravitational pull
Releasing all that I am
Into that sweet gravitational pull
Yes ...
Rising in Love
And high time I dare say
High tide time

Onoma
The giver of names
She calls
Your name is a prayer
As from her lips it falls...
Into the arms of the wind
Into the arms of the wind
Go out into the wind
Let it touch you
Nudge it back
~ Play ~
Let it smell you
Sniff back
~ Engage ~
Let it taste you
Swallow it in return
~ Become One ~
Go out into the wind
Nudge it back
~ Play ~
Let it smell you
Sniff back
~ Engage ~
Let it taste you
Swallow it in return
~ Become One ~
Go out into the wind
